Disposition:
Deferential - Marcel is every ilm the nodding Warrior of Light who does all of his sidequests, no matter how silly they seem. It's given him a reputation, depending on how judgemental one wishes to be, for either selflessness or mindless obedience. And there's a sliver of truth to both perceptions. He genuinely does want to be of service to people and he genuinely does just want to do as he's told, so he doesn't have to think too much. But it's just a sliver.
His service to others is selfish, motivated by a need to be needed and a desperate search for purpose. He was born to protect the Wood, after all, and with that taken from him the only thing he knows to do is to find other things that need protecting (he has a loose definition of 'protecting' which includes 'spreading manure across this field'. It's protecting the plants from malnutrition, after all!). He does ultimately do as he's asked more often than not but he does at least look over the request with a critical eye first, even if more often than not he ends up deciding that whoever is instructing him knows better than he.
More than anything, he just needs to have a reason to exist. Following instructions gives him one, and having that purpose is more than worth surrendering control of his life to whoever feels like taking it.
Awkward - Male viera live in isolation. Even before Marcel first presented as male, he was seen as strange by his fellows, isolated by his irritating habit of voicing other people's insecurities. He's grown significantly better at communicating since leaving the wood, but he's still not great at it. His speech is awkward and unnatural, often pappered with 'please' and 'thank you' in places they don't belong, because that's how he thinks being polite works. He doesn't instinctively understand why some things are taboo and others are not.
Despite this, since leaving the wood, he's found that he likes being around people more than anything. He seeks out busy, noisy places and he's only too glad to try to speak with people, even if he's absolutely terrible at it. His absolute favourite thing is listening to someone talk endlessly about something they care about, and he's gradually trying to figure out how to prompt people to do that.
Because for some reason simply saying 'hello please I would like to hear you tallking thank you' doesn't work.
Calm - Most of Marcel's kind tend to show fairly muted emotions, but Marcel is a little ridiculous even by those standards. The happiest he visibly gets is 'content' and the most distressed is 'slightly concerned' and even the both of those are fairly new developments. Some of this is down to his sheltered, structured life and the traumatic way he left the Wood, he's been working on reclaiming his ability to feel things like a sense of wonder and anger for his own sake in recent months and will likely continue to work on it in Noctium. But a lot of it is just how he is.
Combined with his awkwardness in commuication, this calmness makes him something of a master of understatement - any situation, no matter how wonderful or dreadful, is unlikely to see a reaction more dramatic than a flat statement of 'I like this' or 'I do not like this'. It also makes him very very good at talking about completely ridiculous things as if they were normal.
Suitability: It's not Marcel's first time being dragged to another world. Even if it was it probably wouldn't confuse him too much. He's good at accepting that sometimes these things just happen.
As far as his interactions with the premise of the game goes, he's been told that he should be generating manna and so he'll be generating manna. Or trying to. He'll struggle for a while with the emotional connection required for synchrony, but he'll manage sooner or later. His reactions to the natives are likely to be cordial and helpful, and he'll happily participate in events that involve someone saying that people should do a thing.
He'll be much more wary of GemSci than he is of other natives, having had terrible experiences with BAD SCIENCE in the past, but he'll still be mostly polite. Maybe still run errands. He'll just also want to avoid them.
OOCly, I've not decided what I want to do with transformations. For the most part Marcel will accept them and continue with his life, give or take some good old 'oh no this transformation is making him act weird' drama.
Condition upon arrival: Beat to shit but just about capable of remaining alive without outside help.
Abilities:
Warrior - Marcel has a very large axe and enjoys hitting things with the very large axe. He's exceptionally physically strong and very good at not dying, no matter how much he gets knocked around. The way that Warrior's non-axe abilities actually work is not really explained at all. In gameplay terms, he's capable of healing himself or others and shielding the people around him by hitting things with an axe just that good. I have no idea at present how I intend to translate that into prose but presumably it'll involve getting people so hyped about his big sexy muscles that they spontaneously stop bleeding.
White Mage - Have stick, will heal. White mage's magic consists of your standard rpg healing spells. Previously he would have also had a collection of earth, water and air elemental magic spells (a whole lot of throwing large rocks at things), but as of recently he has lost those abilities and had them replaced with identical spells that use the light element. That's probably a bad thing.
As a white mage he also speaks fluent tree and is sensitive to the needs and whims of the environment around him.
He can breathe underwater - He just kind of can.
The Echo/Blessing of Light - The Echo lets Marcel see visions of people's pasts, though he has no control at all over it. The Blessing of Light protects him from an in-world condition known as tempering/aetheric corruption.
Also he has a glowing scar from exposure to concerning amounts of light which is to say that he has light-up boobs and that probably counts as a power.
